The better you look after your doors and locks, the more reliable they will be and the longer they will last. Maintenance is simple and requires no specialist skills, just follow the instructions below:

  • Wipe handles, doors and hinges regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt
  • Clean in line with the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Lubricate door mechanisms with light oil now and again to stop them stiffening up
  • Avoid scratches from rings and keys

  • Wipe over regularly with soapy water and a soft cloth
  • Paint/stain as part of your normal decorating cycle, remember to lightly sand before doing so
  • Clean the surface and make sure it is completely dry before painting or staining
  • Do not paint or stain the frame weather strip, lock handles or hinges
  • Only apply a second coat when the first has had time to fully dry
  • Make sure the paint or stain is completely dry before closing
